gotta keep your head up

As of late, I've been feeling pretty unsatisfactory with all my outfit photos. Thoughts that pass through my head after looking at said photos: What ghastly lighting. What's wrong with the colors? Ew, my legs look so fat. Why does my face look like cottage cheese? How is my hair so uncontrollable? Etc. etc. Just to clarify, this isn't one of those pity party "ew I am so ugly" posts which, in my opinion, are just poorly disguised pleas for compliments by people who don't actually think they are so ugly. So then, I tried to dispel these negative thoughts. The sciencey part of my brain kicked in and I realized how amazing I am (which is pretty obvious, duh.) And not just me, but all human beings. I mean, if you look at the abiogenesis theory, we originated from (most likely) little bits of organic material that were created from random sparks of lightening and gases. Then through a process that relied heavily upon chance, we evolved into what we are today, human beings. We can interpret things we see, we can communicate with each other! You are currently reading this and your brain is able to assign sounds and meaning to these letters and words. It's absolutely phenomenal! The more I reveled in these thoughts, the more appreciative I was. I'm not really one for any of these... sentimental types of mumbo jumbo, and while the whole "just love who you are" things is nice, I liked having a reason as to WHY we're all special. Here we are with the little cells in our bodies working in tandem, almost flawlessly, allowing us to breathe and basically be! And even though the majority of our genetic material is identical and our biological processes carry on in the same manner, we're still able to form our own original thoughts and ideas and feelings. So my sentimental mumbo jumbo rant comes to an end here. Hopefully, if any of you are feeling down like I was, you feel at least slightly better. Keep your head up, cause you're basically a walking miracle :)
